Sile Moga's dream is to do his own thing in the village where he was born. After a decade driving trucks, that dream has been realised in the form of two magnificent oak barns to accommodate & entertain his friends and visitors.
"When I bought this property, much of it was in ruins and there was a derelict barn where we are standing now. All the money invested here came out of my savings from working as a lorry driver all over Europe for the past 10 years - some 100.000 EUR. When I'm not away driving, I am here working on the barn."
Sile's place sleeps up to ten in five large bedrooms. It is ideal for visitors hoping to stay in relaxed surroundings and to be looked after by a local family and eat homegrown food. Downstairs there is a magnificent open plan space perfect for entertaining. The place is heated by a stunning Kachelofen built from handmade tiles manufactured in nearby Mediaş.
"I wanted to make something beautiful and traditional. I have found a great help in my girlfriend Simona, and Stefi, our village carpenter and very likely the best in the area. The main structure is made of solid oak, prepared by hand."
Sile keeps his own Limousin cattle for beef. Simona is well-known to visitors to the village, having spent more than 10 years as the resident cook at the Italian-owned guesthouses here. She and Sile's mother do the cooking.
"Simona & I run the place ourselves but I shan't be able to give up truck driving just yet, not until this place starts to pay off."
