Work remotely this winter

Updated: Oct 26

We offer digital nomads the chance to live and work through the winter in their own accommodation in Copșa Mare, a tiny farming village beside Biertan, in southern Transylvania.

The fortified church, Copșa Mare, in January

Copșa Mare is set in the middle of tens of thousands of hectares of oak and beech forest, interspersed with traditional farm grasslands exceptionally rich in flora & fauna. The winter weather here is dry, sunny and cold. There is wonderful walking and rough cross-country skiing. Brown bears are common.

The accommodation is ideal for two. Easy to keep warm, with gas central heating throughout, there is a large, light bedroom, with high quality mattresses, feather pillows & duvets, and cotton bed linen; a bathroom with a walk-in shower and under floor & wall heating; and an office equipped with high speed internet and five bar mobile phone coverage. There is a fridge, an electric kettle and gas hob, crockery and cutlery for two, suitable for breakfast and light meals.

The house has an office equipped with high speed internet and five bar mobile phone coverage.

The 2021/22 price is EUR1000 for a couple for 14 nights (EUR750 for single use). The offer assumes a stay of a minimum of two weeks between December 2021 and March 2022. For each additional 7 nights, the price would be EUR400. The price includes hot water, heating, one mid-stay house clean & change of sheets & towels.

The price does not include meals. Lunch and supper can be taken with your hosts, and with our neighbour, Simona, at Copșa Mare 122.

A certificate of vaccination against Covid-19 is required. You may fly to Sibiu, Cluj-Napoca or Tirgu Mures. Best to hire your own car at the airport, or we may send a car to collect you (Sibiu & Tirgu Mures EUR80, Cluj-Napoca EUR125).

Here is a link to a short film showing the landscape above the village in mid-October.
